Employer of the Month – October 2015

For many people, having a job is fundamental to dignity and self-worth.  Yet according to a study conducted in 2012, less than 15% of people who experience an intellectual or developmental disability are engaged in paid employment in the community.

Do you believe that every person has the right to work, regardless of disability?  You can help transform that belief into reality by supporting businesses that employ and support a diverse workforce.

Every month we feature one such employer.  You can help by giving them your business, and letting them know that you appreciate all they do for our community.

This month we celebrate Webfoot Painting.  They understand that a perfect job placement is the marriage of talent, mutual benefit, and support.  Just two months ago they hired a young woman named Tiffany and she’s already painting.  It can take up to two years before an employee is ready to paint and this young lady has it in two months – go Tiffany!  Time and again, Webfoot Painting has proven that they care about their community.

“This is the second job that Webfoot has done on our home, and we are once again impressed with the professionalism as well as the care and detail that they put into their work.  The painters have all been incredibly friendly and clearly love what they do.  They go above and beyond to make sure your job is done well and professionally.  We will never use anyone else for our painting needs.  Well done, Webfoot!”

“We are consistently happy with the work they have done for us.  From our interior kitchen cabinets to the exterior paint and staining and even the decks. Our decks look great and are lasting longer!  The work space was clean and neat and everyone was nice to work with. We will definitely use them again.”

“We thought our decks were in need of being replaced and then Webfoot proved otherwise!  They have a beautiful new wood grain and a fresh clean color!  The crew was beyond helpful, courteous and friendly.  They workmanship was amazing and we LOVE our new deck!  I would highly recommend Webfoot for painting and deck refurbishing!  The service was awesome!”

This month we celebrate Bontà Natural Artisan Gelato.  They are an all-natural gelato company that makes 18 different flavors from scratch, right here in downtown Bend.  Stop by their scoop shop at 920 NW Bond Street to enjoy signature world flavors such as Vanilla Bourbon Pecan, Dulce de Leche & Sea Salt, Strawberry Balsamic, and many more.  You can find pints of Bonta in local grocery stores, and on the menus of some of your favorite restaurants.  You can also visit their website at http://www.bontagelato.com/.

Bonta believes that every employee has both strong and weak points, and that we all experience disabilities in different forms and magnitudes.  “It feels good to be able to give someone a job,” they said, “but it really is a win-win.”

The scoop shop hours are Mon-Sat, 11am to 10pm, and Sundays from 12pm to 9pm.
